I have been pretty disciplined lately. I go to work, do my job, arrive on time and leave on time. I go to gym after work and then usually home. At home, and after a long day, I regularly make time to read or draw, or even write. Recently, I have also started attending an acting class at the royal film commission for twice a week 6-9 after work and for 6 months. It is a pretty full schedule, one that I enjoy, although I would prefer to have less conventional working hours and more time for my other productive hobbies.
Couple that busy disciplined schedule with a healthy diet. I have been doing pretty well on that side too. I have been health conscience for sometime now but never been successful at reducing my waste size as in recently, when I discovered the harm bread actually inflict on my body. In the past few year, I reduced my sugar intake. Gradually, I started reducing the number of spoons of sugar I add to my daily tea and coffee cups, and eventually I learnt to drink it without sugar. With time, habits becomes norms, and now, I don’t even like the taste of sugar in a tea or coffee cup. In the same way, I have stopped my smoking the shishah habit, which accompanied me for 10 years, and where at the height of it, I used to do it on a daily basis, sometimes even twice a day! Now I have been a non-smoker for 4 years. It hasn’t been easy at the beginning, but slowly I cut it off, and eventually my body started to repulse it. In the same way, I have cut on junk food. Junk food that at one point, few years ago, I used to have it almost on a daily basis, and in which my body fat reached to 25% while doing my regularly sports!

Queen Rania addressed the unemployment challenge in the region at the world economic forum this year with yet another brilliant speech of her.
She makes us proud!
So.. the observer is back

I mean, if you are a new reader of this blog, you have probably never heard about me before
I don’t blame you!
well, to be honest, you are most probably a new reader.. this blog lost most of its readers on its two years time down and the migration to wordpress..
So, let me introduce myself
I am Haya.. duh!
A fictional character that the observer uses when he wants to talk about women issues from a woman’s perspective
Simply put, he uses me!
or it is the other way around, I use him to speak out about my gender issues
oh boy… they are MANY!
and nothing really changed in the past two years!

I have always took death for granted. Hated it, had a deep sadness for the fact that it is inevitable, and panicked over it for many many times. Not until last year, when I stumbled upon an article on GQ magazine where in a published interview with a scientist, Aubrey De Grey, he said that he believes that we are pretty close to defeat aging.
Hope filled my heart back then. For, defeating aging means a much longer life, one that won’t just end in a blink of an eye. It also means, and if arrived soon enough, to have the chance to see my parents young again and healthy for ever (fingers crossed).
It wasn’t just hope that filled my heart, but also many ideas occupied my head, for the impact of defeating again would turn the human societies upside down with lots of new beliefs, values and perception of life. It is a major change in the life we know and a drastic shift in the core of human societies we had for thousands of years. Those ideas turned into a new obsession, obsession to examine what life would be when death from aging becomes part of our history. How would people react initially? what would be its impact on our current belief systems and religions? and what is it like to live for 1000 year or even 10000? Continue reading →
